From: THE DANVILLE REGISTER, Danville, Va., The paper dated
April 22, 1908, p.6, col.5 added the following information:
"His funeral was conducted from the home of his daughter, Mrs. B. Frank Mebane, yesterday afternoon, and the remains were interred in the old family burying grounds near that place. Also attending the funeral were Messrs. Turner M., Malcolm K., and Nelson Harris, and Harris Nelson (sic), grandsons of Maj. Morehead. Major Morehead was wounded twice during four years of Civil strife, and carried the scars to his grave.
Major Morehead resided in Spray until 1893, when he went to New York City to accept the presidency of the Wilson Aluminum Company.
James Turner Morehead was born Aug. 6, 1840, and was the son of Governor John M. Morehead of North Carolina and Anna Eliza Lindsay. He was the last of eight children. He graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1861."
