Obituary for Mr. James Douglas ("Jim") Nabors
Funeral Service for Mr. James Douglas Nabors, 76, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Alexander City. Dr. Gerald Hallmark and Dr. Steve King will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mulberry Baptist Church Cemetery in Maplesville, Alabama. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Alexander City.

Mr. Nabors passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born on December 13, 1942 in Sylacauga, Alabama to Robert Douglas Nabors and Bertha Nabors. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1963 and remained passionately involved with his alma mater throughout the remainder of his life. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Alexander City where he served in various leadership positions.

After graduating from the University of Alabama, Mr. Nabors began a career focused on hard work, leadership and serving others. Most notably, Mr. Nabors served with great distinction as CFO and on the Board of Directors of Russell Corporation, Mayor of Alexander City, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Russell Medical Center, Board of Visitors at the University of Alabama, Superintendent of Alexander City Schools, Board of Directors Member at Aliant Bank, and Board of Directors Member at Judson College.

He is survived by his sons, James Douglas (Bradley) Nabors, Jr. of Mountain Brook, AL, John David (Susan) Nabors of Mountain Brook, AL, Christopher Thompson (Amy) Nabors of Auburn, AL; grandchildren, James Douglas Nabors, III, John David Nabors, Jr., Mary Chapman Nabors, Elizabeth Marie Nabors, William Kenneth Nabors, Samuel Halaway Nabors; and brother, Eddie Owen Nabors of Mountain Brook, AL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Thompson Nabors, father, Robert Douglas Nabors, and mother, Bertha Nabors.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to The Marie T. Nabors Scholarship Fund at Russell Medical Foundation, PO Box 939, Alexander City, AL 35011
