CLARKSBURG — David Clifton Harding, 78, of Bridgeport, WV, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019, at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.
He was born in Maryland on June 21, 1940, a son of the late William Thomas and Exie May Harding.
David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra Jean (Harbert) Harding.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by one son, David E. Harding and wife, Tina; a very special grandson, that he was the proud “Pop-pop” of, Luke Harding; one brother, Benjamin Harding; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Evelyn, Pauline, Ernest, William, Joe and two brothers in infancy.
David worked for many years at the Clarksburg Date Center and after his retirement worked at Mountain State Auto Auction for several years as a driver. Along with his wife, he attended Duff Street United Methodist Church. He was known for his “funny and witty” personality and loved telling stories to his family and friends, a trait he passed along to his grandson Luke. David also loved watching baseball and boxing with his son, and when they weren’t together he never missed a call after a game. He loved his family and also his “Stealey Boys” who were like sons to him.
Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 E. Main Street, Clarksburg, WV, on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Flemington I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
