Greg was a 1965 graduate of Roosevelt High School. Greg enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged. After returning from the Air Force, Greg attended Iowa State University. He went on to work as a CSP for insurance companies for 30 years. For five years he was the head of transportation for Pella Community Schools and he taught at Marshalltown Community College for one year.
On June 21, 1980, he was united in marriage to Cheryl Mitchel, in Pella. To this union they were blessed with a daughter Sarah. Greg had a tough exterior but loved children and was soft-hearted. Greg took great pride in his military service.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Cheryl, his daughter Sarah Ferguson, his grandchildren: Charley and Serenity; his mother Virginia Byrd; his brothers Larry Ferguson and Tom Ferguson; and many nieces and nephews.
Greg was preceded in death by his father Robert Ferguson.
