Ronnie Eugene Stevens, Sr. was born on September 1, 1954, to the late Nelson Stevens, Sr. and Lorene Miller Stevens. He peacefully went home to be with the Lord on May 4, 2019.

Ronnie accepted Christ at an early age at Loudon Avenue Christian Church. He received his education in the Roanoke City School System and graduated from Lucy Addison High School in 1972. Ronnie, affectionately known as “Fats”, “Uncle Fats”, or “Heavy”, retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 29 years of service. He also finished concrete, working under his father and continuing the family business with his brothers. He loved his family tremendously, and always encouraged them to “stick together.” Ronnie was an avid Redskins Fan. His hobbies were bowling, fishing, traveling, and working on cars. Dedicated, loving, supportive, strong-willed, hardworking, and genuine are all words that could be used to describe Ronnie “Fats” Stevens. He loved life, his family and friends, and we cannot forget “Maxwell” his dog!

Ronnie was preceded in death by his siblings: Nelson “Nellie”, Robert “Duck”, Betty and Leon “Cootie”. He leaves to cherish his precious memory: loving and devoted wife Wilma Darlene; children Shontez (Robert), Darsha, Ronnie, Jr. (Toi) and daughter/niece Nikkia (John); grandchildren Aniysia, Bryson, and Taevion; brother Harry Lee; sisters-in-law Sharon and Charlene; brother-in-law Roger Johny “Poncho”; a host of nieces and nephews that he loved like his own, cousins, siblings, and friends all who were very near and dear to him.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 1:00PM at Loudon Ave. Christian Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Interment will be in William Memorial Park.
