(Note: Her name is seen on her son, James M. Hopper's death certificate as Silva J. Kemp. There might be some confusing information on here due to there having been two Sibbie's--and I don't know which goes with which.)

86yrs 11mos 24days. Daughter of John W. and Sarah "Sallie" Elizabeth Tucker Kemp. Widow of Richard Moran Hopper.

(Following information from Betty Wynne:)

She was the aunt of Sibbie Adelaide Kemp who was the daughter of William Crawford Kemp and Mary Ann Worsham. William Crawford Kemp was my Sibbie's eldest brother, actually the eldest child of John W and Sallie Tucker.

And more additional information that was sent in by Rev. Betty Hopper Wynne, a descendant of Sibbie and Richard Moran Hopper follows:

I am hoping you can put some notes on the find-a-grave sites for Sibbie Kemp Hopper and Richard Monroe (see below) Hopper. My dad put up the gravestone for both she and her husband Richard Monroe Hopper, and he made several mistakes:

First of all, Richard Monroe Hopper was actually Richard MORAN Hopper. My dad did not really know his name, but in Sibbie's Bible, the name is MORAN. Also, he had a son Richard Moran, who went by the name MORAN HOPPER. Since there was several Manie's in the family, the son Richard Moran Hopper's wife went by Aunt Manie Moran Hopper.

Second, Richard Moran Hopper was never in the CSA. This was Richard M. Hopper from Cleveland County, NC. After my dad put up the tombstone stone, I did not have the heart to tell him this, but now he has died (August 2011), and the record needs to be set straight. He was only in the Rockingham Co militia.

Also, as I said earlier, Sibbie's name was never Syble. I believe the person who put in the obituary was more than likely James Monroe Hopper or his wife, and I guess they wanted the name to sound a little more high-class, since James. M Hopper was a very very prominent builder. Nevertheless, her real name was Sibbie Jane Kemp Hopper.
