Joseph "Jodie" Hamilton was the son of James B.H. and Katie Agnes Collins Hamilton. Katie died when Jodie was only 5 years old.
In his late teens he left his father, then in Kansas, to work on the farm of Carnell "Carney" Parsons and his family. After a disagreement with Parsons on Oct. 12, 1906, Jodie murdered not only Carney, 35, but his wife, Minnie, 24, and their three young sons -- Jesse,6, Franklin, 3, and Edward, 1.
On Dec. 21st, Jodie hung at the Texas County Courthouse, the first and last person to be executed there.
