Emma moved with her family to a homestead in Bryantine, New Mexico when she was about eleven years old. She married William Francis Johnson on 15 March 1915, in Tucumcari, New Mexico. They had a homestead south of Nara Visa, until after Will died. They are the parents of one son and one daughter - Francis Ward Johnson (Ward) and Viola E Johnson.
