Her parents Roy William and Margaret Iva Slocum Day, former husband Donald Earl Austin and son Donald Logan Austin all preceded her in death. She was married twice to Donald Earl Austin, son of Charles Estle and Margurite Annie Russell Austin, first on 5 December 1964 and then later July 3, 1999. A member of Rapha Life Center in Denton, Texas. Joyce has been a resident of Dallas/Fort Worth/Denton area for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Lewisville, Texas; and Cross Timbers Daughters of the American revolution in Flower Mound, Texas. She enjoyed Scrapbooking and genealogy and finding her new extended families. Joyce has helped several people find their natural parents. What started out as a hobby to find her own roots has become a passion.
Joyce is survived by one daughter Shannon Gale Austin Dodd Jackson and her husband Lee Darcey Jackson of Lewisville, Texas; four grandchildren Trevor, Megan Ailene Dodd, Jasmine Jackson and Marleah Jackson; eight great grandchildren; two brothers Jack Ray Day and deceased wife, Phyllis Surles Day of Dallas, Texas; Jimmy Lawrence Day and wife Shirley Griner Day of Manitou Springs, Colorado; one sister Margaret Jeanne Day Beer and deceased husband John Walter Beer, III of Denton, Texas. Numerous nieces, nephews, great and great great.
A funeral service will be held 12:00 P.M., Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Mulkey-Mason Chapel in Lewisville. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM, Friday, May 3, 2019. Joyce will be laid to rest beside her son and former husband (Donald Earl Austin) at Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery in Colleyville, Texas
