James RF Curdy (Jim) passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019 in Coventry House from pneumonia complications.

He was born May 11, 1924 in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada to Roy D. and Alice (Cressman) Curdy, the youngest of ten children. At the age of 12 in 1936, the family moved to Spokane, WA where he attended Libby Junior High and John Rogers High School. The family then moved to Bremerton, WA where he graduated high school and enlisted in the Army in 1943.

During WWII, he was stationed in the southern Philippines with the Signal Corps. With honorable discharge from the Army at the end of the war he returned to Bremerton and attended UW.

He later moved back to Spokane and then Metaline Falls while working for Pend Oreille County PUD. Next was on to Quincy, WA after going to work at Grant County PUD and eventually settling in Mattawa in 1966 where he retired in 1982. He was a long-time member of IBEW, The Masonic Lodge, Masada Shriners, and the VFW.

He is survived by son James (Linda) Curdy of Desert Aire, WA, grandchildren, Heather Curdy of Desert Aire, WA, Trevor Waters of Mattawa, WA, and Kyle Romaneski of Yakima WA, and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by both parents, nine siblings, wife, Irene, daughter, Laura, son, Roger and granddaughter, Catherine.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Coventry House and Othello Community Hospital who took care of him in his last days. Their care and compassion making him comfortable were greatly appreciated.
