CHARLES FREDERICK ANDREWS
Charles was the son of Schuyler Wells Andrews and his wife Susan (Clark) Andrews.
He had several known siblings: Josephine ‘Josie’ [Darrah], Alma Effie [Coss], Clark Wells Andrews, Nelson Blake Andrews, Cora Lucille [Walker], and Mary Lucy Andrews.
Charles lived in Galena, Kansas, after his family’s move there in the late 1890’s. He moved to California about 1901, after first going to Denver where he had secured a job in a dairy. He came “home” to Galena often to visit his family. He was there in June of 1904, when he took his sister Mary to the St. Louis World's Fair.
In 1918, when he filed his World War 1 Draft registration, he was working as a bridge foreman, and living in Santa Barbara County, California, giving his sister Mary’s name in Galena as his primary contact.
Eventually his health gave out, and he went to live at the Olive View Sanatorium, which treated tuberculosis, in 1940 in Los Angeles. He lived there for about 3 years. In 1943, he was transferred to the Los Angeles County General Hospital for a surgery due to a rupture caused by diverticulitis, and was there for 18 days before his death, dying from an acute coronary thrombosis.
May he rest peacefully from his labors. ~~mjp~~
