Jack L. Evers, 91, of La Grande, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at a local care facility.

A Graveside Service will be held at Elgin Cemetery on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 10:00am.

Jack was born September 26, 1925 in Elgin, Oregon to Oris and Pearl (Blanchard) Evers.

He was raised in Elgin, Oregon and graduated from Elgin High School. He served our country while in the United States Army during WWII stationed in the Philippines 1944-1946.

He was married in 1964, and later, he married LaDon Royal in 1982.

Jack was a farmer and a bus driver for the Senior Citizens. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, leather carving and site seeing all throughout the State of Oregon. He was a member of the American Legion for 71 consecutive years, and a lifetime member with the VFW.

Jack is survived by his wife, LaDon; children, Emma Estes (Butch) of Elgin, Oregon, Vickie Nederhiser (David) of Estacada, Oregon and Becky Boyd (Jerry) of La Grande, Oregon; sister, Necia DeWitt of Vernonia, Oregon; 3 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 5 great step-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Oris and Pearl, and sisters, Elaine Hardy and Lorena Rawls.
