Ruby Jeann Ferguson Reid, of Lufkin, was born October 3, 1933, in Gainesville, Texas, the daughter of the late Gladys (Haynes) and Ruby Lawrence Ferguson. She passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at her home. Mrs. Reid was a loving, giving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a graduate of Waco High School, and attended Texas Tech University and Baylor University. She married Walter Jamar Reid in 1955. Mrs. Reid was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Angelina County Medical Auxiliary, and served in various positions, including president. She was also a member of the Texas Medical Auxiliary and the American Medical Auxiliary. Mrs. Reid is survived her husband, Walter Jamar Reid of Lufkin; sons, Royce Houston Reid of Katy and Lawrence Ferguson Reid of Houston; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Reid Heath and Paul Eugene Heath of Dallas; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Reid Heath. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Reid was preceded in death by her sister, Flo Ferguson Lain; and brother, Dan Angus Ferguson. Pallbearers will be Don Reily, Dr. J.C. (Sonny) Clement, Tom Selman, Simon Winston, Charles Young, James Gibbs, Don Martin and Mike Bresie, all of Lufkin, Billy Frank Eaves and Jerry Grimes, both of Woodville, Reese Killion of Waco, Brown Dossett of Shreveport, Tom Hanks of Pittsburgh, Texas, and Dr. Gordon Jones of Broaddus. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Mrs. Reid's memory to the Scholarship Fund of First Presbyterian Church, 607 Janeway, Lufkin, Texas 75901. Memorial services for Mrs. Reid will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2007, at First Presbyterian Church, with The Reverend Jacqueline Hannan officiating. Private interment services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Gipson Funeral Home; Joni Johnson, Director.
