James R. "Jimmy" Melson, 79, died at his home in Anderson on May 3, 2019.
He was born on November 10, 1939 in Anderson, the son of James R. and Dasie Mae (Jones) Melson. He retired in February 1993 From GM Magnaquench after 32 years of employment and was a member of Kingston Avenue Baptist Church. He was an avid bowler, bowling two- 300 games and was inducted in the Bowling Hall of Fame. He played basketball for Highland High School, and enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping, NASSCAR and USAC Racing.
He is survived by his wife Treva Carol (Berkebile) Melson, a son, Bob Melson and a daughter, Sandi Melson Jones; 3 grandchildren, Holly Brewer, Megan Jones, and Riley Jones and 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Carolyn) Melson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Julie and Larry Gaskill.
He was preceded in death by his parents
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at 12 Noon at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service West End Chapel with Pastor Tim Overton officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
