Billy Gene Gilbert
April 11, 1958 ~ April 21, 2019
Billy Gene Gilbert passed away unexpectedly in his home in Beggs, Oklahoma on April 21, 2019.
Born April 11, 1958 in Odessa, Texas to Billy Eugene Gilbert and Wanda Ruth Baird Gilbert.
Billy joined the US Army in May of 1975 at the age of 17. He was honorably discharged as a Specialist 4 in May of 1979. His job title was Combat Engineer. Billy was proud to be a US Army Veteran.
He spent his life driving trucks and operating heavy machinery. Billy was a wealth of knowledge on many fronts. He was proficient in everything that he attempted and if he wasn’t in the beginning he stayed at it until he was!
His most recent employer was Stone Trucking Inc. Kiefer, OK. His friends at Stone mourn his passing along with his family.
Billy is preceded in death by both parents Billy Eugene Gilbert and Wanda Ruth Baird Gilbert.
Billy is survived by one sister, Cheryl Freeman and husband Darrell of Macomb, Oklahoma. One brother David Gilbert of Garvin, Oklahoma.
Nieces Brandy Standridge and husband Joe of Valliant, Oklahoma. Dana Dinkins and husband Jarod of McLoud, Oklahoma. Charlie Steinhilber of Covington, Texas. Dawn Hanson of Nevada, TX. Kyla Connell and husband Patrick of Idabel, Oklahoma.
Nephews Kelly Channell and fiancé Jennifer O’Neal of Pensacola, Florida. Justin Channell of Indiantown, Florida. David Freeman of Butte, Montana. Kerry Gilbert and wife Kim of Garvin, Ok.
Great-nieces Abby Standridge of Valliant, Oklahoma, Kenedi and Emarie Dinkins of McLoud, Oklahoma, Rose Hanson of Nevada, Texas, and Destiny Gilbert of Garvin, Oklahoma. Great-nephews Dustin Woods of Valliant, Oklahoma, Xavier Freeman of Butte, Montana and Kael Dinkins of McLoud, Oklahoma.
A memorial service and reception will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the McClendon-Winters Life Celebration Center, 310 East Sixth Street, Okmulgee, Oklahoma
Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
