Harry Bernard Cooper, 64, departed this life on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born on Nov. 30, 1954, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Fortune Cooper Jr. and Frances O. Cooper.

He attended school in the Sumter area school system. He later learned auto mechanics and auto paint and body repair. He worked at Jones Chevrolet, Sumter, for many years as an auto body repair technician. He became renown in the Sumter area for his outstanding auto paint and body repair skills.

He leaves to mourn his memories: his mother, Frances Cooper; one son, Darnell Clarkson; four siblings, Wanda Jean (Robert) Ricks, Wendy (Marion) Mitchell and Dariell (Betty) Cooper, all of Sumter, and Gretta (Byron) Parker of Atlanta; his companion, Lucille "Sister" Woodberry; four children he raised as though they were his own; a host of aunts, uncles, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and acquaintances.

Funeral services: John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. Davie Brown, pastor of Bethel AME Church, Sumter, officiating, eulogist.

Burial: Goodwill Presbyterian Church (USA) Cemetery, 295 N. Brick Church Road, Mayesville.
