Chatham – Robert E. “Bobbie” Pullen, 91, of Springfield, IL, formerly of Virden, IL, passed away at 9:35 P.M. Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the Villas of South Park Chatham, IL, with his family at his side. Bobbie was born on July 17, 1927 in Charleston, MO a son of Alfred E. and Mary Pauline (Wright) Pullen. He married Dorothy V. Kenway on January 17, 1948 in Wyatt, MO.

Bobbie enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1945, during WWII and served aboard the U.S.S. Boxer, CV-21. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #386 and was a member of The Grace Southern Baptist Church, Virden, IL.

Surviving Bobbie are sons, Kim E. (Lori) Pullen of Dupo, IL, Rob (Patti) Pullen of Springfield, IL; daughters, Paula Wight of Goose Creek, SC, Kathy (Dennis) Vala of Chatham, IL, and Susan Marie (David) Vickery of Jacksonville, FL; 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Bobbie in death were his parents; wife, Dorothy V. Pullen, sister, Katherine Harkins and a brother, Billie Pullen.

Visitation will be from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. Monday, May 6, 2019 at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home in Virden, IL. Funeral service will start immediately following the visitation at 12:30 P.M. with the Rev. Tom Swegle officiating. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. Monday May 6, 2019 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL.
