Irene and Bert Curtis, Sr were married in 1944 in Waxahachie, TX. He preceded her in death in April, 1963. On August 5, 1970, Irene and Robert Fleming were married in Norman, OK. He preceded her in death in October, 1995.
Following her 1944 graduation from Norman High School, Irene moved to the Davis area, where she raised her four children, Laverne, Lucky, David and Bert, Jr. She spent 21 years working as the Dietary Manager for the Burford Manor Nursing Home. For the past 18 years, she worked as a Foster Grandparent at the Davis Elementary School, in the classroom of Jill Swenson. In her spare time, Irene enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking and garage selling. She cherished spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren. Irene was a member of the International Association of Rebekahs.
Survivors include two daughters, Laverne Digby and Lucky Summers & husband Paul; two sons, David Curtis & wife Patricia and Bert Curtis, Jr & wife Michelle, all of Davis; 12 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one brother, Larry Pickens & wife Shirley of Davis; as well as one, brother-in-law, Tommy Tennison of Ft. Worth, TX.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Irene was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Tennison, Bertha Quick, and Eudora West; three brothers, Robert, Clarence and Tommy Pickens; and son-in-law, H.L. Digby.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Davis, with Pastor Billy Staggs officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
