Burlington-Oscar Thomas “O.T.” Beckom, 96, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the Homeplace. O.T. was a loving husband of 65 years to the late Margaret Rumley Beckom.

O.T. retired from Glen Raven Mills after 45 years. He was a proud American serving in the US Army company F 414th Infantry, Timberwolf Division with the Night Fighters during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was a recipient of the Bronze Star as well as other commendations. O. T. loved helping others throughout his life and was a loving and devoted husband and daddy. He enjoyed his garden, yard sales, refinishing and collecting antiques, fishing at the coast and making boxes for Iseley Farms during strawberry season. O.T. never met a stranger and loved to fellowship and laugh. He was a longtime member of Bethel United Methodist Church and faithfully served his church and the Boy Scout troop at Bethel.

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Beckom Prichard and son-in-law, Terry Prichard; brother, John Dee Beckom and wife, Martha as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; great great nieces and nephews, cousins and other special family members and friends. He also left behind his precious companion Miss Kitty Cat. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, T. O. Beckom and Juanita Sutton Beckom; brother, Conard Beckom and sisters, Betty Nell Satterfield and Bernice Cantrell.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at 2:00PM at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Dr. Terry Prichard. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park with military honors provided by the US Army.
