He was born in San Diego, Calif. on Aug. 4, 1955. As a youth growing up, Dean lived in several states as the son of a Navy father. Upon his father's retirement from the Navy, he and his family settled in Mystic. Dean attended local schools and was a 1973 graduate of Fitch High School in Groton and was an avid basketball, baseball and softball player.
Dean was a Pipefitter & Shipfitter with Electric Boat for over thirty years. He loved the water, boating, camping, traveling, riding his motorcycle and rooting for his favorite sports teams, the NY Giants and Boston Red Sox.
He is survived by his three siblings, Sheila Rogers Walls (Mike), Mel Rogers (Ethel) and his devoted caregiver and twin brother, Dennis Rogers and his nephews, Jeffrey Walls and Corey Rogers. He also leaves behind his two beloved dogs, Marley and Miles. He was predeceased by his parents, Emery and Louise (Rincicotti) Rogers, his two nephews, Scott Walls and Brett Rogers and his former wife, Terry (Bowser) Rogers.
Dean fought a courageous 10 year battle with 3 different cancers. His family would like to thank all of the medical staff at Hartford Hospital, L&M Hospital, New London Cancer Center and the Westerly Hospital wound clinic for their help, care and support given to Dean. He never gave up, with his strong desire to live. His strong faith and determination helped him to carry on.
Services will be private. A burial will be held privately at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Mystic.
