Ellen Jeanette Garrett Brooks, age 91 of Tarrant, passed away Tuesday, April 30th.

Jeanette was a longtime member at Rock United Methodist and a steadfast follower of Jesus. She planted strong roots in her local community and was admired for her benevolence. Throughout her life, she embodied the same kindness and calmness that Jesus demonstrated. She had a genuine heart for the broken, and willingly opened her home to anyone in need. Known for bringing people together, she carried a spirit of connection and unity into every situation. Whether close friend or complete stranger, Jeanette went out of her way to make others feel safe, comfortable, valued, and loved.

She is rejoicing now, as she meets her Maker in heaven and reunites with her husband, Carlton Eugene Brooks (1927-2012); her father, Euell Alvin Garrett (1903-1971) and her mother, Mae Ray Garrett (1908-1999); her brothers, Charles M Garrett and James A Garrett (and wife Bebe); her sister, Ruth Garrett Simpson (1930-2006) (and husband Jim); and her son-in-law, David A Jayne.

She would say that the greatest legacy she leaves behind is her lineage.

She is survived by her daughters Carla Brooks Williamson (Lynn) and Sandie Brooks Jayne Savage (Jerry); her son, Sidney Kent Brooks (Nancy); her grandchildren, Kristi Williamson Barber, Brent Douglas Williamson, Jordan Kent Brooks (Emily), Mary Ashley Canevaro (Cameron), Colton Chase Brooks (Caton), Bethany Lynne Jayne, Austin Jace Brooks (Amy), Molly Morgan Bean (Kevin), and Coleman Powell; her great grandchildren, Abbie Grace Barber, Andrew Grayson Barber, Andrew Long, Austin Jace Brooks II, Samuel Kent Brooks, and Tobias Rhett Brooks; and numerous extended family members and life-long friends.
