Thomas Roth, 76 of Rapid City died, Friday, April 26, 2019 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Thomas Henry Roth was born in Mitchell, SD, on August 14, 1942, to Tom and Leona (Bender) Roth. Tom was raised by his Grandma Bender in his younger years, as his mother passed away soon after he was born. In 1948, Tom Sr. married Marie Lamm. To this union, Janet and Rudy were born. In 1958, the family moved to the Philip area, and Marie passed away. Tom, Janet and Rudy then joined their Uncle Mac and Aunt Dorothy (Lamm) McKinney’s family. They went to school in Rapid City. Tom graduated from the Cathedral High School in 1960.
Tom worked for the Rapid City Coke plant for 10 years. In 1971, he moved to Rockford, Illinois, where he worked for Chrysler and Gunite. On July 17, 1972 Tom and Sheryl Knispel were united in marriage. They returned to Rapid City in 1992. Tom has worked for Regional Hospital for the last 27 years. Tom loved his job and was a good guy to work with.Tom and Sherry loved to tour the Black Hills together. He loved pheasant hunting in Howard with family. Of course, he always had his camera with him. Thanks for all the memories, Tom!
Tom is survived by his wife, Sheryl; brother, Rudy (Susan) Roth and family in Philip; sister, Janet Lewis and family in Rapid City; brother-in-law, Roland (Teri) Knispel and family in Piedmont; aunt, Dorothy McKinney and her children, Art, Bruce “Butch”, Mike, Carol, and Kathy. Also surviving Tom are a large extended family.
