Larry Eugene Hoffman passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017, at home. He was 76.
Larry was born on December 28, 1940, in Herrington Kan., to Francis B. and Frances C. (Holscher) Hoffman. The family moved to Northern California in 1941, and he graduated from Placer High School in Auburn, Calif., in 1958. Larry enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1959 and was assigned to the 101st Airborne based out of Fort Campbell, Ky. He achieved the rank of sergeant prior to his discharge in 1962. While in Kentucky, he met and married on September 2, 1961.
Returning to California, Larry attended Sierra College, obtaining an Associate Degree in 1964, then received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Sacramento State College in 1970. He divorced in 1974. He married on December 18, 1977, in Napa, Calif.
Larry worked at various jobs while attending school and in 1979 started his own company, Dockside Diving, in Napa, repairing boats. In 1984, he also became the district manager for the Napa River Reclamation District. He retired from both careers in 2008 and the couple moved to Clarkston, Wash.
Larry is survived by his wife,; children; siblings as well as grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother James F. Hoffman.
A funeral with full military honors will be held at the Old Auburn Cemetery in Auburn, Calif.
