Avery Robert Finley began his life on August 28, 1891. He was born in La Porte County, Indiana to William & Frances (Davis) Finley. I found him living with his parents in the 1900 Census in Galena Twp located in La Porte County. By 1910 his parents had divorced and Avery was found living with another family in La Porte County. Avery married Mary Allen on August 13, 1913 in St. Joseph, Berrien, Michigan. Avery is then found again in the 1920 Census living in Michigan City, Indiana with his wife and 2 daughters. By the 1930 Census Avery had relocated his family to Chicago, Illinois where I found him living on Ravenswood St in Chicago with wife and daughters. He is found in the 1940 Census living with his wife in Chicago.

After 1940 there is very little information about what happened to Avery. Family stories have stated that Avery was a alcoholic and ran off to a unknown location. He was never heard from again by any of his family and it is unclear where Avery passed away or where he is buried. His wife died in 1973 and she was a widow at the time, but there is no death records on file for Avery in the state of Illinois. Some of Avery's family have said that he left his family and moved out west and worked on the railroad but that story has not been confirmed. I did find a Railroad Pension for a A Finley but it was not for this Avery.
