Lois Carolyn Harvey, 80, of Peterstown passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at her home with family. Born April 10, 1939 in Christiansburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Zella and Hampton Williams. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Williams and an infant daughter, Lisa Renee Harvey.
Lois graduated from Narrows High School in 1957 and then from WV Business College in Accounting. Following her graduation, she served as secretary/treasurer for the town of Peterstown and also worked for an accounting firm, Valley Finance Company, as well as Pearisburg Bank. The majority of her working years were with a dental office in Pearisburg, VA, from which she retired. Regular patients of the office remember many years when they could count on seeing her welcoming smile at the reception desk.
She was a member of the Peterstown Baptist church and a part of the choir. She shared her strong faith with those around her in conversation and in song, frequently performing solo at church services. She will be remembered for some of her favorite things: her grandchildren, dancing, the Christmas holidays, the beach, and cooking delicious meals for her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 58 years, Roy “Ned” Harvey; a daughter, Sheri J. Harvey, of Rocky Mount, VA; a son, R. Kevin Harvey and wife, Holly, of Greenville, WV; a granddaughter Ashton Leigh Harvey, of Greenville, SC; a grandson Justin Daniel Harvey and wife Morgan, of Morgantown, WV; and a great granddaughter Lana Blayke Harvey. Special brother-in-law Darrell Harvey, of Peterstown, who helped with her care, as well as brother-in-law Melvin Harvey and wife Mary Pat; and sister-in-law Letha Spangler and husband George as well as many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Rev. Jon Jennings officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, May 3, 2019, at the funeral home.
