Mattie Lou Monk Woods, 92, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2017, at Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. Marshall Kennedy and the Rev. Billy Sumner officiating. Mrs. Woods will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Johnny Woods officiating.

Born July 16, 1925 in Quitman, Mrs. Woods was the daughter of the late Charlie Monk, Sr. and Susie Morrel Monk. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Albert Parkerson and Johnny Parkerson; one daughter, Mary Lou Parkerson; and two sisters, Lois Laster and Lelia Chauncey. She was a hard worker and retired as a seamstress from Fitzgerald Underwear Corporation. After retirement, she helped her husband with farming and she was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She loved to help others who were in need.

Mrs. Woods is survived by her husband, Alex C. Woods of Tifton, who she married July 1, 1972; one son, ; two daughters; three brothers; four sisters, ; 11 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
