Mr. Norwood was born March 30, 1944 in Heard County to the late Luther Jefferson Norwood and Lillian Barrentine Norwood. He was a member of Centralhatchee First Baptist Church.
He was retired from the Ford Motor Company, where he worked many years at the Hapeville Assembly Plant.

He was elected Heard County Commissioner for District #2 in 1996. During his tenure he served briefly as Heard County Commission Chair after the Chairman at the time resigned. He was a trusted leader of the community.
Sports were his greatest passion. He loved to watch the Atlanta Braves on TV, as well as many other sports, among them football and basketball. He got the most fulfillment from coaching teams at the Heard County Recreation Department. He had an impact on the lives of many young people through the years.
He was also a big fan of all of his nieces and nephews, and rarely missed any ballgame they were playing in.
