STANTON, Calif. — Joan (Robinson) Fischer, 64, of Stanton, Calif., went to her Heavenly home Monday, April 22, 2019, after a short, courageous battle with cancer.

Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Grand Island. Visitation will he held in the gathering room of the church after the service.

Joan was born Feb. 25, 1955, to Vern and Diane Robinson in Grand Island. She was raised in Grand Island and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Grand Island Senior High, where she graduated in 1973.

Joan loved music and theater and pursued her musical talent by singing and playing the guitar in several bands in the Grand Island and Omaha area.

Joan married John P. Fischer, who she met while playing and singing in a band in Omaha, on Nov. 20, 1987.

Joan worked as a computer programmer in Grand Island, Omaha and for 30-plus years at Yamaha in California, where she was employed at the time of her death.

Joan’s favorite place in the world was Disneyland, which was five minutes from her house in California. She always made sure to buy an annual pass every year just so she could go to Disneyland to have supper if she wanted. Everyone says that Disneyland is the “Happiest Place on Earth” and for Joan, it truly was. She was a kind-hearted, selfless person who was willing to help anyone she met. It was her dream to raise service animals for those in need.

Joan is survived by her husband, John Fischer; and her loving Robinson family, including her mother, Diane Robinson Grubbs; and seven siblings, Jean (Michael) Wilson, Jan (Ron) Reed, Janet (Rex) Peterson, Julie (James Lewis, Jackie (Troy) Foster, Jerry (Laura) Robinson, Joy Weir; three stepsiblings, Steve (Arlene) Grubbs, Diane Grubbs Schmidt and Gary Grubbs; 23 nieces and nephews, 18 grandnieces and grandnephews and one great-great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her father, Vern “Rob” Robinson; her stepfather, Alfred Grubbs; her grandparents; and her stepbrother, Ron Grubbs.
