St. George -- Remington Lufkin Davenport, 86, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 27, 2004, in St. George, Utah. He was born September 25, 1918, in Hood River, Oregon to Franklin Remington Davenport and Kate Naomi Lufkin Davenport. He married Vivian Elida Snow in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 21, 1946.

Remington was a veteran of World War II in the U. S. Army. He served overseas for 33 months in an evacuation hospital as a medic.

He graduated from Dixie College and Utah State University. He taught Industrial Arts in Milford, UT, Richfield, UT, and Torrance, CA for 35 years.

Remington was an active lifelong member of the LDS Church. He served in the St. George LDS Temple and held various positions in the church throughout his life.

Remington took great pride in making gifts in his workshop for others. He loved to read and enjoyed the outdoors. His greatest joy came from his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian of 58 years and four of his six children; Marcus (Cheri) Davenport, Brent (Janice) Davenport, Merryn (Wayne) Martin, Machell (Roger) Bartlett, twelve grandchildren, two brothers; Rodney Davenport, Myron Davenport.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 1, 2004, at 11 A.M., at the Green Valley LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, 511 S. Valley View Dr. A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 1, from 9:30-10:30 A.M., prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary 435-673-4221. Condolences may be sent through Metcalf's Web site at www.metcalfmortuary.com.
