Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens. She requested no visitation. A brief family service will be presided by Pastor Anne Christiansen as her ashes and her husband’s ashes are placed in the columbarium niche.
Yvonne was born September 19, 1931 on a farm in rural Strawn, IL, the daughter of Fred and Elsie (Wallenstein) Stein.
She graduated from Strawn High School in 1949, the last class to do so. She married her childhood sweetheart James E. Harris of Fairbury on May 27, 1951. They were married 65 years until his death in October 2016.
Surviving are two sons, Fred J (Diane) Harris and Paul A. (Phyllis) Harris; two grandchildren, Andrea (Donny) Wills, daughter of Fred and Diane and Matthew, son of Paul and Phyllis and two great- grandchildren, Jory and Hudson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Shirley Deutsch.
Yvonne worked at the National Bank of Bloomington until the birth of her first son. Later she was employed at Unit 5 Schools. She was a noon hour supervisor at Colene Hoose Elementary before going to Parkside Jr. H.S. food service. She then managed the kitchen at Colene Hoose Elementary. She retired in 1989. Yvonne was a 54 year member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bloomington, IL.
Memorials may be made in Yvonne’s name to St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bloomington, IL or The American Cancer Society.
