Terry Lee DesJarden, age 77, of Cooks, Michigan passed away at UP Health Systems in Marquette, Michigan on April 28, 2019.

Terry was born on April 1, 1942, to Napoleon and Lila (Popour) DesJarden in Manistique, Michigan. He attended Cooks Area Schools and later enlisted in the Army National Guard. On October 16, 1965, he married Carol J. Holmberg who preceded him in death on December 31, 2015. Together they raised their family in Cooks.

Terry spent most of his life working in construction as an operating engineer and heavy equipment operator. He loved spending his time outdoors fishing, hunting, and working in his garden. He enjoyed sitting and watching old westerns and treasured the time he spent with his family.

He is survived by his son Terry "Bears" (Lisa) DesJarden of Cooks, MI; daughters Renee (Dave) Timmons, Shelly Ann (Mike) Setterlind of Manistique, MI, Becky Lee (Robert) Maynard of Manistique, MI, Susan Marie (Jason) Mercier of Nahma, MI; brothers Junior (Phyllis), Allen (Marylee), Elroy, Butch (Patti), Jay (Marci), Dean; Sisters Rita (Bob) Sturdy, Verna Lakosky, Shirley Shampine, Karen (Bill) Pilon, Bonnie Elliott; 8 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Terry is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol; parents; grandson James Burnis; and great-granddaughter Myra Moore.

Visitation for Terry will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019, from 1:00 – 1:30 pm. A memorial service to follow at 1:30 pm at the Cooks Congregational Church with Pastor Joe Herr officiating.
