Steve Stephens died Monday,Feb.11,2002,at the age of 26 years,eight months and two days,in an auto accident in New Mexico.Funeral services were held at 2p.m.Friday,Feb.15,at First Baptist Church in Throckmorton. The Rev.Charles Fischer officiated.Burial followed at Woodson Cemetery in Woodson under the direction of Merriman-Archer Funeral Home of Throckmorton. Steve was born June 9,1975 in Ozona to SUE BETT ALEXANDER and JAMES RANDALL STEPHENS. He had lived with his father in Lubbock for a short time,then moved to Moran to live with his mother. While in Moran,he played football,basketball,tennis and ran track and was a member of FFA and FHA. He moved to Throckmorton,where he attended Throckmorton High School. He received many honors in Throckmorton High School,including Co-MVP in basketball and track and was voted Outstanding Senior of the Year. At the time of his death,he was working for Nabors Drilling Company as floor manager. He loved fishing and camping on the river with his friends and still loved to play football and basketball. Steve is survived by his mother,SUE BETT ALEXANDER of Moran;his father,RANDY STEPHENS of Tomball;one son,ASHGON REYNOLDS of Breckenridge;two sisters,CHEYENA TABOR of Moran and JAMIE of Gonzales,La.;his grandmothers,BETTY ALEXANDER of Albany and COLLEEN KILGORE of Ozona;his grandfather,JACK ALEXANDER of Fairfield;two nieces and two nephews;and several aunts,uncles,and cousins.
