Terry Ward York, of Dixon, was born on April 26, 1947, at Dixon, a son of Ward Ancil and Mary Ellen (Evans) York and departed this life at 5:10 a.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2019 in the Mercy Springfield following a brief illness. Mr. York had attained the age of 71 years, 10 months and 7 days.

Mr. York was preceded in death by his father, Ward on December 21, 2002; his mother, Mary on August 4, 1993; four brothers, Eugene York on August 17, 2008; infants, Dennis York on June 27, 1959, William Newton York on November 14, 1961 and Samuel Richard York on December 4, 1963; one sister-in-law, Reda Faye York on May 31, 2017 and the mother of his children, Marie Cortez on February 13, 2011.

Mr. York was a 1965 graduate of Dixon High School. Following high school, in 1966 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country until his honorable discharge in 1970. He was a Crew Chief on mapping planes and had attained the rank of Sergeant E4.

Mr. York had worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Operators Local 101 of Springfield. He was a devout Democrat and loved a good debate. Mr. York lived to take care of and cherished the times he spent with his family. He enjoyed reading and riding 4-wheelers and motorcycles in his earlier years.

Those left to mourn the passing and cherish the memories of Mr. York include: his son, Denny York, Dixon; his two daughters and son-in-law, Dena and Jamie Johnson, Dixon and Mandy King, Waynesville; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Eddie and Carole York, Dixon; Donnie and Beverly York, Niangua and Kenny York, Dixon; eight grandchildren, Cory York, Miranda Johnson, Chance York, Taylor King, Danielle Johnson, Caden King, Cale King and Jacob Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Blake York; numerous nephews and nieces; and other relatives and friends.
