He served a Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States from 1939 to 1941. He then served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Admiralty Islands. Doug had a strong faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings including a member of the Bishopric in the Rose Park Third Ward. He was happiest when serving in his church callings and was always faithful in all he was asked to do. He loved spending time at his cabin (shack) near Kamas, with his brother and all his grandchildren teaching them to fish and love the outdoors. He will be remembered by his family for the meticulous manner in which he tackled any job. He loved doing anything that involved cleaning, painting and yard work.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou and his three sons, Stephen (Becky), Dennis (Kathy) and Ron (Diane). He also leaves behind nine grandchildren and one great-grand-child. Sisters, Della Frewin, Mary Alice Brooks and brother Kenneth L. Hatch also survive him. His grandson Colby who was a special blessing and a labor of love precedes him in death. Also preceded in death by sister Roberta, and brother Wayne.
The family would like to thank all the staff at the Veterans Nursing Home for the care they gave Doug.
