Born in Auburn, on July 12, 1942, to the late Charles Ring and Dorothy (Goodwin) Dunn. He spent his formative years in Waterloo, graduating from Waterloo High School in 1960. After high school he attended and graduated from Purdue University in 1964
Philip was married to Sandra (Harlan) Jackson in Green Center, on September 3, 1988.
He retired from Raytheon in Fort Wayne after 35 years as an Electrical Engineer.
He was an honorary member of the Tal Beta Pi Engineering Fraternity. He was also a member of the Green Center United Methodist Church.
When he was a young adult, he was a pilot with an instrument rating. Later in his free time he enjoyed being a Ham Radio Operator. He was a woodworker and taught his grandchildren. He was a 55+ year motorcycle rider and as a couple they enjoyed riding together especially their trips on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Philip is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sandra Dunn; two step-children, Chris Jackson and Cathy (John) Petrie; his sister, Sarah (Dan Pullen) Shuherk; grandchildren, Cassandra (Ben Jehl) Petrie and Jay (Courtney Farrell) Petrie; two nieces, Emily (Jeff) Meck and Rachel (Tony) Lewellen; a great-nephew, Andrew and a great-niece, Agatha.
Services will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Friday, May 3, 2019, at 11:00 AM. with calling one hour prior to the service, officiating, Pastor David Harrold.
Family will also receive friends on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
