Don B. Potter, 78, graduated this life and went to be with his Savior on April 27, 2019, in Maryville, Tennessee. Don, or “Grumpy” as affectionately called by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was born on July 30, 1940 to Leonard and Olive Potter, in a small house in the foothills of the Chilhowee Mountains in Six Mile, Tennessee.

He spent 7 years in the Tennessee Army National Guard and was honorably discharged as an E-7. Most of his adult life, he spent behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler delivering goods to folks all over the country.

Dad loved playing his guitar, singing and listening to gospel music and served as the bass guitarist for the Faith Baptist Church choir for many years. He married the love of his life, Bernice (Bea), on July 2, 1965. They would have been married 54 years.

Don is survived by his wife, Bernice (Bea); their children Scott Potter and wife Liane, and Sherri Gillette and husband Richard. Grandchildren include: Jake Potter, Destiny Smith, Bailey McBurnett, Collin McBurnett, and Kacie McBurnett. Great-Grandchildren include Camden Barnes, Caroline Barnes, Peyton Ervin, and Grayson Smith. Siblings: Brother Kenneth Potter and wife Mildred of Maryville and sister Lennell Giffin of Georgia, Marie Drinnen (Deceased), and many nieces and nephews. Special Brother and Sister- in-law: Ralph and Faye Payne of Louisville, TN.

The family will receive friends 12-1 PM Wednesday, May 1, 2019 in Sherwood Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 1 PM. Rev. Mike Arp officiating. Interment to follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
