Born October 13, 1922 at Cave City, he was the son of Earl A. Tripp, Sr. and Ovie Jackson Tripp.
He served as an Ensign in the United States Navy in the Pacific theater during World War II. He was a graduate of Arkansas College (now Lyon College). He was co-owner of Tripp Gas Company for 29 years, a member of the Methodist Church for 68 years, a 32nd degree Mason for over 50 years, and past president of the Arkansas LP Gas Association. He served on the board of directors and later as chairman of the board of White River Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Susan Ann Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Tommie Jane Shell Tripp of the home, a son, Howard Franklin Tripp of Batesville and three grandchildren, Sarah, Kaitlin and Daniel Tripp, all of Batesville; a sister, Billie Tripp Porter of Batesville, two brothers, Earl Jr. of Batesville and James Trip of Fort Worth, thee nieces, Charlotte Davidson and Earline Tripp of Batesville and Kay Porter Pryor of Bakersfield, Vermont; and four nephews, Jeff Porter of Columbia, MO., Chuck Tripp of Sheridan, Chris and Byron Tripp of Fort Worth.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Friday night at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be at 2 PM Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Batesville with the Reverend LaVon Post officiating.
Pallbearers will be Dave Timko, Mike Wilson, John Taylor, Bryan Branscum, Mitch Henderson, David Poole and Dr. Paul Bube. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Beck, Howard House, Jack Stevenson, Robert Stroud, Malcom Moore, Dr. Chaney Taylor, Bill Jones, and Stan Wood, Jr.
The family will be at 816 Eagle Mountain Boulevard in Batesville.
