Wallace “Wally” Frank Davidson, 88, of Bolivar passed away at home on Friday, April 26, 2019.
Wally was born Wallace Frank Robinson on January 6, 1931 in Independence, Missouri to Frank Burnham and Mercedes Genenva Robinson. At a young age while living with his mother in California he was adopted by his step-father Clyde Davidson. Wally grew up in Berkeley, California and wore out many iron skate wheels and bicycle brakes maneuvering the hills of Berkeley. While in high school he moved with his parents to a dairy farm near Galt, California where his love for farming blossomed. He graduated from Galt High School in 1949.
Wally married Jamie Louise Austin on August 5, 1951 and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage. He served in the Army during the Korean War and retired from the Operating Engineers, Local Union #3 after 50 years of working as an oiler on truck cranes. He had a deep love for family, farming and ranching. He also loved watching Nascar, the NFL and NBA. He loved being on a tractor.
He taught his children and grandchildren the value of hard work and Christ like service through example. Wally was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and showed his faith in the Savior each day through his unselfish acts of love and service to those around him, especially his family. You could always find Wally helping a neighbor with a mechanic issue or working their land with his tractor and disc or putting up their hay.
“Can’t complain”. If you asked Wally how he was doing or how things were going his response was always “Can’t complain”. He was a man of integrity, big and strong and yet tender with loving concern for others.
Wallace is survived by sons Darrel Clyde of Boulder City, NV, Donald Lee and wife Lori of Vero Beach, FL, daughter Linda Marie Bee and husband John of Bolivar, MO; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; sisters Kristine Anderson and husband Bruce, and Marilee Ginoulis and husband Ken.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jamie Louise; daughter Victoria Lynn; grandson Wesley Earl Cook and great granddaughter Danyael Lynn Albillar.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 1, 2019 from 5:00 to 6:30 with the funeral service May 2. 2019 at 10 am both held at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar. Interment will follow the service at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.
