Evelyn M. Montgomery,80, of 1255 Fairington Circle, died at 3:22 p.m. Tuesday in her home of an apparent heart attack. She was born Oct. 6, 1901, in Royal Center and lived in South Bend since 1944, coming from Kewanna. On March 3, 1919, in Royal Center she married Edgar Montgomery, who died in 1964. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Phyllis King of Mishawaka; four sons, Robert of Mishawaka, and Eugene, Richard and Carl, all of South Bend; 23 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Martin of Royal Center, Esther Wood of Star City and Devitta Smith of Mishawaka; and two brothers, Edwin Boose of Royal Center and Eldon Boose of Logansport. A son Harold died in death in 1976.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Guisinger Colonial Chapel, with Rev. Jack Duff, pastor of the Southside Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in Royal Center Cemetery, where graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. She was a member of the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Association.
