Rena was the daughter of Joseph "Mine Lick Joe" Allison (1799-1886) and Asenath Cynthia Stone Allison (1802-1862). She was Robert Lindsey Gentry's (1834-1906) first wife and had seven children with him, three living to adulthood. Her grave site is unknown, but is located in Putnam County, Tennessee.
