Richard N. Parsons was born September 21, 1942. He died peacefully surrounded by family October 14, 2018.

A beloved man has left this earth and we morn for our loss. Although our hearts are broken, there is a cause for celebration. We celebrate a life well lived. We celebrate a father, a Grandfather, a Great Grandfather, a husband, a brother, and a friend. We celebrate the joy he brought to many, his smile and his love. Richard was raised in McCune, KS and graduated from McCune schools. He later attended Pittsburg State University and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. He remained loyal to both schools by serving in the McCune Alumni, as president, until he retired due to health issues. He also attended all Pittsburg State football and basketball games. Richard was the manager of McCune Farmers Coop, Girard Producers Coop, and later retired from DeLange Seed in 2003. After retirement, he mowed for the City of McCune to help pass time.
He will forever be remembered as a grumpy old man, the worst driver in McCune, and ornery as all get out, but more importantly as a man that had a heart of gold. Richard was hardworking, caring, giving, and a big softie when it came to his family. Blood or not, he loved his entire family unconditionally. He enjoyed going fishing, attending his grandkids' sporting events and cooking for his family (his famous fried fish, baked beans, and garlic bread). You never left Papa's house on an empty stomach. He liked doing yard work and decorating for Christmas, but absolutely LOVED playing slot machines. He was known for his Christmas light displays. No Christmas will be as bright without him here.

He was a devoted husband to Patsy Parsons (Johnson) of McCune and will be sadly missed by his brother Leroy Parsons; his children Traci Owens of Wichita, Missy Johnson of McCune, Jennifer Easterly and her husband David Easterly of McCune; his grandchildren Zach, Victoria, Katie, Seth, Elana and Trevor; his great grandchildren Aaleyah, Jaxson, Alexa, Ryan, Cannon, Sy' Air. He had so many great friends, loyal high school coaches and a special friend Jim Wilson.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dick and Louise Parsons, in-laws Pat and TK Johnson, son-in-law Larry, sister-in-laws Carol and Marge and his favorite dog KC.

The celebration of life will be held on 10/20/18 at 1:00 PM at the McCune Community Center.

Memorial donations are preferred in lieu of flowers and may be made to the McCune Cemetery in care of McCune City Hall: 517 Main, McCune, KS 66753
