Minnie married Herman Gerzan, the son of Albert and Henrietta (nee Kayser), in Chicago on September 8, 1900. They had four children: Gertrude (my grandmother), Herbert, Marguerite and Karl. At some point between 1920 and 1930, Minnie and Herman were divorced.
Among the memories I have of Grandma Gerzan is how she used to enjoy watching wrestling/boxing on television. She would pound her cane on the floor in response to all the excitement.
Grandma Gerzan was also an excellent baker. I recall watching her make what she called "pocketbooks", little meat/vegetable filled pastries that were absolutely delicious!
