Charlie A. "Chuck" Hetrick, 59, of Thornton, Colo., former Sioux City resident, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at a hospital in Englewood, Colo., after being stricken at work.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Russell Senstad officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Charlie was born March 8, 1948, in Sioux City, the son of Philip and Marjorie "Jane" (Morse) Hetrick. He was raised in Sioux City most of his life. He was baptized in the Methodist church as a child. He attended Emerson School, West Junior and graduated from Central High School in 1968. As a child, he lived for a short while in Springfield and Gretna, Neb. He moved to Colorado in 2001.

He married Jolene Ambroz on April 11, 1970, in Sioux City. They later divorced. He married Cindy L. Staben-Sorensen on Jan. 1, 1998, in Monument, Colo. Chuck worked at various packing plants in the Sioux City area. He then worked for the Sioux City Foundry for 14 years. After moving to Colorado, he worked at various jobs and was currently employed by Robinson Brick Co. of Englewood, Colo.

He was a member of Summit of Peace Lutheran Church. While growing up, he was active in the Cub and Boy Scouts of America. While at Central, he played football. Chuck enjoyed gardening and taking care of his back yard. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. He liked going to the mountains and hunting for gold with a Geiger counter. He played chess and checkers, and he called bingo at several clubs in Sioux City.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy of Thornton, Colo.; two daughters, Heidi Hetrick and Eric Harrison of Sioux City, and Heather and Josh Carpenter of Sioux City; his mother, Marjorie "Jane" Hetrick-Rose of Homer, Neb.; his stepchildren, Angela and Aaron Walsh of Boone, Iowa, Elise and Zach Gass of Sioux City, and Nathaniel Sorensen of Thornton, Colo.; four granddaughters, Haylie and Hope Ellinger and Kellie and Carlie Harrison; three stepgrandchildren, Kaleb and Mackenzie Gass and Brenner Walsh; his in-laws, Karl and Ruth Staben of Sergeant Bluff; six brothers and sisters, Philip and Karen Hetrick of Walthill, Neb., Janice and Bill Sampson of Sioux City, Janet and Jim Dawdy of Sioux City, Marc and Beth Hetrick of Monument, Colo., Greg and Joy Hetrick of Valier, Mont., and Jack and Kim Hetrick of Walthill; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; and nephews, Greg Hetrick Jr., Chad R. Ambroz and Conner Stultz.

Pallbearers will be Ara Keller, Scott Osborne, Philip Hetrick, Marc Hetrick, Greg Hetrick, Jeremy Hetrick, Josh Carpenter and Patrick Shafer. Honorary pallbearers will be Janet Dawdy, Janice Sampson, Jack Hetrick, Matthew Hetrick, Mason Hetrick, Nathaniel Sorensen and Lowell Osborne.
