Mr. J. B. Crews, 80, died Sunday night (February 19, 2006) at his residence following an extended illness.

He was a native of Charlton County but had resided most of his life in Brantley County. He was the son of the late Perry Crews and Maggie Johns Crews and was preceded in death by a grandson, Trent Crews.

He was a former employee of Seaboard Construction Company and Atlantic Coastline Railroad. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

The survivors include his wife, Gussie Mae Lee Crews of Waycross; three daughters, Janice Riggins (husband Charles) of Hoboken, Clara Tapley (husband Thomas E. Tapley, Jr.) of Waycross, Angie McArthur (husband Kevin) of Waycross; two sons, Jimmy Crews (wife Linda) of Waycross, Travis Crews (wife Dana) of Nahunta; two sisters, Rochelle Crews Lee of Hoboken, Tiney Kelly of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren, Anthony Riggins, Taite Crews, James Pruitt, Betsy Tapley, Trey Tapley, Maggie McArthur, Kipp McArthur; and three great grandchildren, Lanie Shuman, Cole Riggins, and Fisher Crews.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (February 22, 2006) at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Tuesday night from 6 until 8. Memorialization will be by cremation.
