Last Rites Held For Luther Aareskjold
Funeral services for Luther Aareskjold, 73, who passed away Saturday morning at the Community hospital, were conducted Tuesday afternoon from the Big Timber Lutheran church, Rev. Ocee Johnson officiating.
Mr. Aareskjold had been a patient since October 25, suffering from a heart condition.
Music, "God Will Take Care of You" and " Beneath the Cross of Jesus", was by Mrs. A. Ronald McDonnell and Mrs. Margaret Busha, accompanied by E. O. Overland at the organ.
Pallbearers were Harold Boe, Olaf Maland, Albert Strand, Knute Lavold, Alfred Undheim, and Peter K. Pederson. Burial was in Mountain View.
Mr. Aareskjold was born April 1, 1892, at Hoyland, Norway, a son of Mr, and Mrs, Ludvig Aareskjold. He came to the United States in 1911 and worked for Abraham Gosfield and other ranchers in the Big Timber area. He was married to Sofie Ostenson on August 9, 1928, at Helena.
Besides his widow, Mr. Aareskjold is survived by a sister, Gustava Wiig, in Canada, four step-daughters, Mrs. Alta Allestad, Mrs. Mina Doyle and Mrs. Vivian Ronnegerg, all of Big Timber, and Mrs. Iona Sleveland of Tacoma, Wash.; a step-son, Orie Ostenson of Melville; 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
