He was born on March 31, 1949, in Alexandria, Virginia, a son of Wade Hampton, Jr., and Naomi Hines (Kerr) Thomas.
Wade loved hunting and fishing. He was an avid baseball and Washington Redskins fan. Wade spent most of his working life as a laborer.
One brother, William Roy Thomas, died in 1952.
He is survived by his sister, Marsha N. Smith of Goshen, a nephew R. Andrew Schindler and wife Anita, and three great-nephews, Ryley D. Schindler, Samson A. Schindler, and Toby C. Schindler.
A private graveside service will be held at the Lebanon Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. Linwood G. Wilkes.
