Robert Booker

Services for Mr. Robert Booker, 86, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday from the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with the Rev. Bill Bates , and Dr. H. Garrison Coltharp officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgecrest Cemetery.

Mr. Booker died Thursday morning at his residence in Jackson. A native of Fort Smith, Arkansas, he was the son of the late William A. and Mary Hicks Booker, Jr. Mr. Booker was a farmer, landowner and investor in Jackson. He was educated in the Jackson City Schools, the Blue Mountain Preparatory School of Mississippi, Lambuth College and Union University. Mr. Booker was a charter founder and board member of the former Jackson State Bank now known as First Tennessee Bank, was a past president of the West Tennessee Milk Producers Association and was a former member and board member of the Madison County Farm Bureau. He was a former Mason, Scottish Rite and Shrine member and a former member of the Elks. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Dr. Allen Truex Sunday School Class.

Mr. Booker is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Molly Booker of Jackson; one daughter, Judith Englert of Jackson; one sister, Catherine Nixon of Hertford, N.C.; two grandchildren, Bob Englert of Jackson and Carol Englert Downey of Murray, KY and four great-grandchildren, Brock Downey, John R. Englert, Jack Englert and Mackenzie Downey.

Casketbearers to serve will be Bob Metcalk, Larry Hill, Bob Hundley, James Brown, Jack Lawrence, Grady Powell, Bob Thomas and Bill Scott.

Honorary casketbearers to serve will be Ed Archer, Joe Exum, Bob Elam, Ed Weaver, Herndon McLeary, John Mil-ligan, George Gardner, R. C. Johnson, James N. Crews, Dr. Roy Appleton, Dr. Allen Truex and the Truex Sunday School Class.

The family has requested that memorials be directed to the First Baptist Church of Jackson.

The family will receive friends at the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons from 3 until 5 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. this evening.
