John C. Gallagher, a well known farmer living 4 miles east of Phillipsburg, died very suddenly Tuesday night of heart failure. He had not been strong for several months but was as well as usual and had been to Phillipsburg on business during the day. At bedtime he retired as usual but in a few hours became very ill and passed away within an hour.
The body was brought to Lebanon this morning and laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery. On account of the illness of Rev. Father Wood, pastor of the Catholic Church, no services were held, but memorial services will be held later.
Mr. Gallagher is survived by his wife and one son, Lee Gallagher, who returned from services in France only a few months ago.
Two brothers, Hugh Gallagher, of Corning, Kansas and J.A. Gallagher, of St. Louis, and a sister, Mrs. Maggie Donovan, of Corning, Kansas, also survive him. Hugh Gallagher and a sister-in-law. Mrs. B.A. Gallagher, of Springfield, came here to attend the funeral.
