Don was united in marriage with Susan Kathleen Smith on November 5, 1983 in Pomona, California. They were blessed with 2 children, Joshua and Megan. Don served his country proudly in the United States Air Force to include over 5 years of service overseas in support of Operation Desert Storm/Shield. He was honorably discharged upon his retirement September 30, 1994 at the rank of Master Sergeant and with multiple decorations, medals, citations, and ribbons. Don and Susie most recently made their home in Harper where Don served as police officer with the Harper Police Department and then as a Deputy with the Harper County Sheriff's Department. Upon his retirement from civilian service, he continued to serve his community as a member of the Harper City Council.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Marjorie and brothers, Jim and Byron. He is survived by his wife, Susie; son, Joshua; daughter, Megan (Todd) ; granddaughter, Jessalynn; brother, Chuck (MaryAnn); sister, Sharon (Harold); brother, Danny (Cindy); sister, Ruth (Gabriel); twin brother, Jon (Katie) ; sister-in-law, Dianna; and numerous other relatives and many friends.

Friends may register from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2019 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Harper. Family will be present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to greet and visit with friends.
Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Harper. Interment will follow at the Harper Cemetery with military honors provided by McConnell Air Force Honor Guard.
