Susan Anne Wright

Services for Mrs. Susan Anne Wright will be held Saturday, April 27th, 10:00 a.m., at James F. Webb Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Belcher officiating. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Wright, 58, of Meridian, passed away Wednesday at UAB Hospital of Birmingham.
She graduated from UWA with a Master’s in Elementary Education. Susan worked for, and retired from, the Meridian Police Department as an administrative secretary and Evacuation Services Coordinator for 27 years. She was also a member of The Meridian Police Benevolent Association and Calvary Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended and taught Sunday School for a time. She was certainly a virtuous woman as described in Proverbs 31. She was depended on by the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks to be fed daily in the backyard. She was known to be an outstanding cook, making terrific food to be enjoyed by her husband, friends, and church family. Susan could make an out of this world red velvet cake, that won over people who didn’t even like the dessert. She was a big fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Saints, “Who Dat!”, and was also a fierce Ole Miss fan. She went to Ole Miss for a short time on a scholarship. She was a sweet, loving wife who also adored her dogs throughout her life. She and her loving husband Dan loved visiting the Gulf Coast, where they spent their honeymoon, June 30, 1984. She will be greatly missed by everyone that she came in contact with.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel “Dan” Wright Jr.; and cousins, Denise Johnson and Howard Stinson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Carson Covert III and Jean Stinson Covert.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 26th, 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. and an hour prior to service on Saturday, all at the funeral home.
Friends and family are welcome to sign the online guestbook at www.jamesfwebb.com.
